چکیده

Purpose: To report a rare case of slow progression carotid cavernous fistula (CCF) with central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO).Case summary: A 66-year-old man presented conjunctival injection and proptosis in the right eye. Best-corrected visual acuity was 0.8 0.5 left eye, respectively, vessel enlargement subconjunctival hemorrhage were observed eye on slit lamp examination. Due to suspicion CCF, computed tomography, tomography angiography, magnetic resonance imaging, angiography performed. These analyses showed no vascular abnormalities associated arteriovenous shunt, so patient followed up closely. About 1 month later, his engorgement became severe CRVO derived from venous stasis by CCF occurred, transfemoral cerebral performed diagnosis made. Intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor for CRVO, best corrected improved 1.0 eye. Conclusions: Slowly progressing can be accompanied intraocular disease, such as appropriate through detailed evaluation is important treatment.

Central retinal artery occlusion associated with traumatic carotid cavernous fistula: case report.

Carotid cavernous fistulas are a rare entity occurring as result of head trauma and also spontaneously. The authors report a rare case of central retinal artery occlusion complicating traumatic carotid-cavernous fistula, resulting in severe visual acuity loss. Spontaneous closure of the fistula was observed. The possible mechanisms responsible for this complication are discussed.

Bilateral retinal detachment following carotid-cavernous fistula.

Cases of the third type are usually commoner in men, but Meadows (1951) has described nine cases of fistulous aneurysm arising spontaneously in middle-aged women. The sequence of events appears to be the development of an aneurysig of the internal carotid artery as it lies within the cavernous sinus bathed in venous blood. This aneurysm is small and silent, a large one being less likely to rupt...
